How Much Does Window Replacement Cost in CO?

Apr 10, 2024

The window replacement cost can vary greatly, depending on the size, glass type, and materials you choose. If your windows are starting to show their age, you may be wondering, “How much does it cost for vinyl replacement windows?” and “How much does window replacement cost?” Let’s break down some common factors affecting your overall price so you can budget accordingly and avoid unnecessary surprises.

How Much Does Window Replacement Cost in CO?

Factors that Influence the Average Cost to Replace Windows in Denver

Your window replacement costs depend on several key factors, ranging from the material type you choose to the region where you live. Let’s look at some key factors that influence your cost.

  • The Window Size and Type: As a general rule of thumb, the bigger the window, the more you can expect to pay. Simple single and double-hung windows are more affordable to replace than complicated and custom-designed bow windows and garden windows.
  • Frame Material: Common frame materials include aluminum, composite, fiberglass, vinyl, and wood. Aluminum and vinyl frames are typically the most affordable, while fiberglass is often the most expensive.
  • Home Size and Age: Larger homes typically have more windows, and the more you need to replace, the more you can expect to spend. Homes built over 70 years ago often face additional challenges that can lead to higher costs.
  • Glass Size, Type, and Number of Frames: The type of glass and number of panes can increase the cost of window replacement but also add to energy savings.
  • Window Location: Certain locations can be hard to reach or require custom-designed windows to fit the space. This can affect the overall cost.
  • Where You Live: Homeowners in colder climates may want to invest in triple-paned windows to help with insulation, while warmer climates may only need double-paned windows. Some areas also have local ordinances and codes that require certain types of windows.

Consider these factors when answering questions like, “How much is a window replacement?”

Price vs. Energy Efficiency

Newer windows are built with better insulating properties than older windows. Certain add-ons can increase your windows’ energy efficiency, but you have to weigh the cost. Energy efficient upgrades will tack on additional costs to your window replacement project, but they often balance out over several years as you experience lower energy bills. Some common energy-efficient upgrades include:

  • Weatherstripping: This involves adding foam, felt, or rubber tubes around the edges of your windows so no air can escape or get inside.
  • Laminating Glass: This process creates the same heat-reflecting effects as double glazing but also adds moisture protection.
  • Low-e Coating: This limits the amount of ultraviolet light that passes through the glass, which keeps your energy bills down.

Since heat gain and loss cause up to 30% of a home’s energy use, keeping your windows as energy-efficient as possible may be well worth the added cost.

We had almost all of the windows in our home (14 total) replaced. I felt like Anthony really had my best interest in mind when selecting windows, and there were no pushy sales tactics. They were very helpful and responsive along the way. The installation went smoothly and was all completed in only about 5 hours with no issues! The double lifetime warranty really puts my mind at ease too for the future.
Best windows and installation I have experienced. We had Champion replace some of our windows, but they have ice on the interior of the frames in the winter (I assume due to lack of proper insulation). The Bluebird windows have no icing on the interior, and are much easier to clean. We'll use Bluebird to replace the remaining windows in our house.
I got a lot of quotes to replace a few windows and a patio door and BlueBird was by far the best value. Quality products for a reasonable price. The install went very smooth but there were a few things on the exterior I thought could use a little touchup. They were happy to come out and fix it and the finished result is great. I will definitely use them when I replace the rest of the windows in my house.
